6.6 Recognition

It’s very important to recognize and appreciate the time and effort of contributors. This makes the community engagement fair and ethical, and motivates contributors.

  1. Points-based recognition program Contributors earn points for the tasks they complete. These points lead to certificates of appreciation and, if they get to certain thresholds, to monetary rewards. The points system is a recommended best practice from similar projects and ensures fairness, competition, and motivation.

  2. Leaderboards can be a powerful tool for engagement. They offer real-time recognition. Contributors can see how well they have performed compared to others. This motivates them to continue the work and also gives them public recognition.

  3. Inclusive recognition model You need to make sure that it’s not only top performers who are treated fairly and gain recognition. Contributors get rewards at various thresholds, based on how much they do. So even lower-volume contributors have the chance to get some positive recognition. This model makes sure that everyone feels valued for their efforts.

  4. Celebration moments We regularly celebrated milestones and top contributors, and recognized "Voice Stars". This helped to create a positive sense of community. Some people had joined the project because they saw an opportunity for visibility and to earn respect. So highlighting their achievements in this way was a game-changer.

  5. In voice recording, the amount of data people use may be higher. If you identify the most suitable network of contributors and then issue data to them, it will help them to deliver more tasks.

Key takeaway

A community engagement model that is structured, respectful, and localized is very important when expanding the collection of voice data. So NEVER skip onboarding, recognition, or ongoing support.
